Do you need to apostille your Driver’s License?

If you plan to drive in another country, your US-issued driver’s license may require an apostille to be valid for use in that country. 

To apostille your driver’s license, you will need to have its copy certified by a Notary Public in the state that issued your driver’s license first. Make sure you use an experienced notary with a valid license and knowledge of document certification for use abroad.  

If you are unable to obtain a notarized copy of your driver’s license in person, any trusted family member or a friend can do that for you. You can ask a friend or a relative in the state of Georgia to take your driver’s license to a Georgia notary public, have it copy certified, and mail it to our office for obtaining a Georgia driver’s license apostille.  Keep in mind that a public notary must see an original of your driver’s license before he/she can make a certified copy. All states require that a driver’s license copy must be a color copy in order to be certified and notarized.
